Rawad El Skaf is a philosopher of science. He is currently a Humboldt Experienced Fellow at Leibniz University Hannover and a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Philosophy (GW) at the University of Salzburg. His research focuses on how climate change research informs policy in a supposedly neutral way. Drawing on philosophy of science, feminist and post‑colonial theory, he develops a critique of this supposed neutrality and builds an explicitly value‑laden science‑for‑policy framework. He is also interested in the promises and pitfalls of democratic approaches to managing values in the sciences.

His methodological approach is practice‑oriented and interdisciplinary, combining philosophical analysis with close engagement with climate research communities. He actively engages with work on both mitigation and adaptation, across orthodox and heterodox approaches – for example, through the Integrated Assessment Modeling Consortium (IAMC) and the Post‑Growth Modelling Consortium (PGMC). His recent work includes a paper on post‑growth and the lack of diversity in the IPCC's scenario framework (Journal of Economic Methodology, 2025). He is currently writing a monograph on these issues under contract with Synthese Library.
