Margarida Hermida is a postdoctoral researcher within the Knowledge in Crisis project, working on the universality of biology. Her research focuses on philosophy of biology, biophysics, and the metaphysical nature of life and organisms. Before coming to Salzburg she held a Jacobsen Postdoctoral Fellowship in Philosophy at King’s College London, where she developed a project on ‘The Physics of Life’. Margarida has a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Bristol, where she studied with Samir Okasha and received a scholarship from the British Society for the Philosophy of Science for her work on the identity of organisms. She also has a PhD in Biology from the University of Porto, Portugal.
