Ali Emre´s research is in moral and political philosophy. He has worked on theories of civil disobedience and democracy as well as ethics of immigration and climate change. Currently, he focuses on ethical issues surrounding climate change and refugee hood. Particularly, he investigates the question: How should moral responsibilities for refugee protection be distributed in the context of climate change related uncertainties? Ali Emre has an M.A. in Philosophy from Erasmus University in Rotterdam and a Ph.D. in Political Theory from LUISS University in Rome. Before joining the University of Vienna, he took up research positions at the University of Graz, the Max Planck Institute in Gottingen and the University of Edinburgh. He also teaches at Bogazici University Department of Philosophy in Istanbul, his alma mater.
